While some experts believe that an nuclear terrorism incident is low, the state of new nuclear powers such as Iran and North Korea gives great cause for worry. The stability of other nuclear powers also is questionable as is the security of their nuclear stockpiles.
Nuclear terror comes in at least four distinct flavors. Unfortunately nuclear terrorism is not a flavor you want to experience. Most descriptions deal only with 2 or perhaps 3 of the following scenarios, ignoring what would likely be the most devastating attack vector. In order of most disruptiveness, the following scenarios must be considered.
1. Electro-Magnetic-Pulse aka EMP
2. Nuclear detonation(s)
3. Dirty bomb
4. Attacks on nuclear power plants

Planning
Plan for the worst for terrorist attacks. Disruptions may be national in scope. If you recall the problems after hurricane Katrina in 2005, imagine less destruction, but potential temporary loss of infrastruction (just-in-time delivery of basics, utility loss) on a national or global scale. This site is not an alarmist site, however we recommend looking at the possibilities in a terrorist attackand preparing for them from a rational and logical manner.
